Afternoon Tea

While you could take afternoon tea anywhere in London, the elegance of the Belgravia area – not to mention all the boutique bakeries – makes it the perfect place. The Goring on Beeston Place is one of London’s best afternoon tea venues, offering a truly indulgent and luxurious experience. 

Alternatively, pop into one of the beautiful bakeries of the district for coffee and cake. 

Cadogan Hall

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra calls Cadogan Hall home. The hall dates from the early 1900s, and hosts both classical and contemporary music concerts. Find out what’s on at Cadogan Hall in advance of your visit, so you can secure tickets to something that interests you.

Royal Court Theatre

This Sloane Square theatre bills itself as “the writers’ theatre.” It’s known for nurturing both emerging and established talent. The venue runs the Royal Court Playwright’s Podcast, too. There’s also the Living Archive – an online platform for writers and audiences.

Knightsbridge

There are designer shops everywhere you look, from beloved fashion British brands Ted Baker and Burberry, to Louis Vuitton for luggage and Rolex for watches. 

Elizabeth Street 

Elizabeth Street in Belgravia is home to some very popular cafes, including the famous Peggy Porschen bakery, a pink confection in itself. The pretty street is also known for its colourful floral displays, making this one of London’s most photogenic areas. 

You can also shop at the array of independent boutiques in Elizabeth Street. Why not wander along, snapping pictures as you go, and dipping in and out of whichever cafes and shops take your fancy?

Eaton Place (+ Chester Square)

Eaton Place is where you should go if you want to gaze in awe at grand, stucco-fronted townhouses. It’s picture postcard London, and perfect for photo opps. As with Elizabeth Street, many buildings are adorned with lush greenery and pretty flowers. 

Nearby Chester Square also features elegant homes with beautiful gardens, and is also an Instagram fave. 

Sloane Square

Sloane Square is another part of Belgravia where you’ll always find lots going on. There are plenty of places to shop, dine, and of course, people watch. Look out for what are known as “Sloanes” or even “Sloane Rangers” – fashionable young women from the upper classes who tend to frequent this part of London. 

King’s Road

Stretching west from Sloane Square is the famous King’s Road. Strictly speaking you are entering Chelsea territory here, but if you’re in the area you won’t want to miss one of London’s best-loved streets. 

King’s Road came to fame during the 1960s, when fashion icons like Vivienne Westwood and Mary Quant put the street in the spotlight. The road and offshoot streets and squares offer many boutiques, eateries, and events. It’s always buzzing, so make sure you take a stroll along. 

Eccleston Yards

While we mention Eccleston Yards below as a fave among foodies and shoppers, it’s worth visiting even if you’re not hungry or in need of retail therapy. There are some great fitness and wellness venues here, too. 

It’s also just a nice place to hang out, with a hip and happening vibe. And if you’re looking for an outdoor yoga session to pep you up, this is where you’re going to find it. 

Belgrave Square Garden

Belgrave Square Garden is an urban oasis in the heart of Belgravia. It offers a kids’ playground, a winding path beneath pergolas hung with greenery and blossoms, a wildflower meadow, an outdoor gym, and tennis courts. 

There’s also a number of elegant embassy buildings lining the square. It’s perfect for picnics, and there are plenty of food halls and bakeries in this part of the city for picking up delectable edibles.

You can find a number of the best places to eat in Belgravia at Eccleston Yards. You can get everything from healthy salads to hearty steaks, and indulge your sweet tooth at Biscuiteers. Wild by Tart at Eccleston Yards is also one of the best restaurants in Belgravia, and also has a deli, a bar, and even a photography studio. 

Market Halls Victoria

Right on the edge of Belgravia is Market Halls Victoria. It’s a real foodie hotspot, and housed where Pacha nightclub once was. There are two levels of food outlets, with lots to choose from. It’s popular among local workers in the week, and a favourite for brunch in Belgravia on weekends. 

Harrods

If you’re looking for Knightsbridge restaurants, head to Harrods. From a Gordon Ramsay burger to Middle Eastern or pan-Asian fare, you can find it all under this prestigious roof.

Harvey Nichols

Like Harrods, Harvey Nicks also offers some of the best restaurants and cafes in Knightsbridge. Here you can choose from Pizza on Fifth, Madhu’s Brasserie, Burger & Lobster, and more. 

Hawksmoor Knightsbridge

Committed carnivores will love Hawksmoor. It’s one of London’s top steak restaurants – as well as being among the best restaurants in Knightsbridge. 

The Boisdale 

The Boisdale in Belgravia is a renowned Scottish restaurant housed in a gorgeous Georgian townhouse. It’s got a whisky bar and cigar terrace, and offers live jazz music too. 

Mango Tree

If you love fragrant Thai, you cannot miss Mango Tree in Belgravia. This award-winning restaurant is prized for its authentic, flavoursome Thai food with an innovative edge. 

The Buttery

The Buttery in Belgravia is located at the Lime Tree Hotel. It offers rustic charm, garden seating, all day dining, and even colourful cocktails. 

L’Eto Caffe

L’Eto Caffe is on West Halkin Street in Belgravia, and offers freshly prepared Italian cuisine. The vibe is welcoming, and the cakes are to die for. 

Chucs 

Chucs Belgravia is a laid-back Italian bistro. If you’re seeking cafes in Belgravia for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner, it’s well worth trying this one. 

Where to Shop in Belgravia & Knightsbridge

Harrods

For some, why bother with Belgravia shops when you can find it all under one roof? Harrods has everything you could wish for and more – although at this smart department store, don’t expect bargain prices.

The famous shop on Brompton Road offers a hair and beauty salon, a pharmacy, a tea room, food halls, and so many shopping options to boot. It is however free to wander and admire the goods – the food hall is my favourite!

Harvey Nichols

Occupying a commanding corner position close to Hyde Park, Harvey Nickols – or Harvey Nicks, as many call it – is one of London’s most respected stores.

It’s at the forefront of the city’s fashion scene, and stocks luxury, upmarket brands. If you’re into beauty, fashion, and lifestyle, you cannot miss this. 

Motcomb Street

Motcomb Street, close to Knightsbridge station, is pedestrianised, and home to some of the best Belgravia shopping options. Look out for Corthay for shoes, and Eres, which sells swimwear. 

Eccleston Yards

As well as food outlets, you can also find a selection of chic boutiques at Eccleston Yards in Belgravia. It’s a good place to find unique clothing and accessories from new designers, or established British fashion brands. 

Christmas in Belgravia & Knightsbridge

Who needs a Christmas market in Belgravia with all these twinkling streets and squares? Head to Eccleston Yards, Elizabeth Street, Halkin Arcade, or Motcomb Street to see the lights from mid-November onwards. And as you might expect, the lights and decorations in Knightsbridge are dazzling. 

During the festive season in London you can also dine on seasonal treats and shop for one-off gifts in this part of London.

Belgravia is slightly southwest of central London. It’s bordered by Hyde Park to the north, Victoria and Westminster on the eastern side, the River Thames to the south, and Chelsea lies to the west. Most of Belgravia is within the City of Westminster, but some of the western streets belong to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. 

Where is Knightsbridge?

Knightsbridge is a central London district to the southwest. It adjoins Belgravia, which is to the east, and is also surrounded by Chelsea, South Kensington, and Hyde Park. Like neighbouring Belgravia, parts of Knightsbridge are within the London boroughs of Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea.
